walk

this picture just sums little man up, happy just walking around.  In fact today we had to go downtown and after having a hamburger date for lunch, all Oliver wanted to do was "let's take a walk for a long time."  He didn't want to go in the toy store or the candy store, just wanted to walk.  And so we did.  Up and down and back and forth.  I love my fellow wanderer.  I can't help but wonder at how the experiences of their very early days and months impact them in ways we don't expect.  Because, you see, we walked a lot.  And mostly I walked with Oliver up on me, carrying him in the carrier or holding him in my arms.  We walked multiple times a day, up and down and back and forth.  Across The Green, to the Post Office, down past the Co-op, across the street to the School, back up past the Flower Shop, past the older women sitting on their porch, past our across-the-street neighbor with the crazy dog and back to our home.  Walked and walked, up and down and back and forth. And now we walk behind our apartment on a path that winds for just a short 0.5 mile but just taking the steps is far more important than what the surrounding area is and what is underfoot.
I have worked out a good deal in all our walking.  I've discovered the world is big and our God is bigger, even if you live in a small  town or a small apartment; whether you are sure of your next step or not. Keep making those steps.  Sometimes feeling that firm assurance of God's presence and sometimes stepping, clinging to His promise that He will never leave us.
..."for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." (Psalm 9:10)
