Life and Photos

So we tried to have an not-so impromptu photo shoot, maybe a week or so ago.  We really have very few shots of the three of us together and, like many, would like to have some.  Although balancing the camera on a park bench, setting the timer, grabbing the boy and running to stand smiling into the sun can be a great way to capture that perfect family photo, we did not manage to capture the awesome photo filled with equal parts casual and fun and loving and smiling (oh, and flattering of me).

apparently I'm trying to bring in the new style of graying ombre hair technique :)
attitude adjustment in progress
We got a lot of squinting and Oliver pushing his dump truck and my hair blowing in my face.  But we also had a lot of fun that day, after a bit of an attitude adjustment for all of us.  Oliver, obviously wanted to push his truck around, not really in a way that allowed for the casual, fun, loving, smiling family photo.  I was getting a little snarky after walking around the park in shoes made for looks, not 3 year old fun.  And Eric was recovering from just flying in late the night before.  After the attitude and expectations adjustments we had a good day though, and ended up with maybe not the perfect casual, fun, loving and smiling photo, but,  one that shows us together.  And that is really, all I needed.  Just needed us.  Together, without an errand in sight, without a better place to be.

He's splashing me, lots of fun for him!

And for some reason, this is one of my favorites.  I guess because it's just them walking up the hill, together, some complaining going on from the one in the red shoes and some "pull it together" talking from the other; but together.  Figuring it all out together.
